AMV Jump, good to love

I was just sitting looking at my amv, and I need your guys opinions. I want to know what you guys think with AMV's.

The question is:
What do you guys think makes a great AMV and what does it take to make that jump from a great AMV to an AMV that you love.
Show me examples to if you like.

For me the jump is something that is really stylized. Usually really unique masking and text that are presented in a really different way does the trick. In the end though in my opinion it's about breaking away and developing your own techniques that are special to you.

In this the things that stood out the most were the vfx stuff like the fire, smoke, clouds and sparks. Mix all that with light effects, cc and great transitions and you have something awesome! Another thing I find that pushes me to love an amv is song choice and or scene selection as well as creating an atmosphere. Anyways I probably didn't help much since you know more about editing than me but that's just my perspective xD

I believe that for a great AMV one would mostly need Creativity. just a well edited video that resembles so many others is far away from being great. A feeling that this amv is different indicates that this is also good.
Now for a good AMV that I (for myself) also happen to love i'd say its the result of HQ footage / well made transitions / Good internal and external sync with the song, and the thing that automatically attracts me which is "Smoothness" Having everything working together smoothly is not a simple task. Now a great amv that I love can have effects or be raw. I don't really care. Because I take and judge AMVs for what they are. A smooth RAW video with little editing skills can also be great like this one

I don't think I do know a lot about editing personally, I've been watching them a while now so I know what I personally think looks cool. But I don't practise the actual editing enough, as you can see all my vids on my channel are nooby imo. Hopefully my next isn't at the same level as the rest.

But I just want opinions of everyone in general, because I've watched a lot of pro vids, that I've hated, but people have loved, alot of the time it can come down to the fact that a good editor made it, so everyone licks there anal. But its not always the case, I just wna know what you guys think an awesome amv is, cuz everyone has differences in opinions and always will

The only requirement I have to watch an AMV is sync. Now, if I am to enjoy it as well, the thing I love the most is the matching of video and song.  And yes, I will really adore an AMV only if I like the song as well, I can't deny that. I recognise of course good editing, but I don't like many videos nowadays because they are too much WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB for my tastes. Sometimes I love 2 particular seconds of an AMV and I rewatch them countless times, not caring about the entire thing.  

However, a good concept is always awesome. I will post my favourite AMV, hope you like it.

for me, the task is simple! Create an atmosphere that will MATCH the song and show something specific through your video, not random shit! I don't care if you know every effect in Vegas/AE, by using only flashes/blurs you can make me love your amv!

Aaaah this Amv....back when it came out i was watching it 10 times a day and its actually what made me want to start editing Amvs (although i didn't start back then because the pc i had couldn't even handle vegas lol). As for what makes me love an Amv i would say the same with Nikos-san, give me a a good video with flow and concept then i will surely like it, videos with random fx don't appeal to me, although if it is done right i will also like it, like the video from Madao that Gab showed

I love AMVs that surprise me.
I hate sync, I prefer when I watch something that I don't expect, or else it's boring. But the flow still has to be good and to seem 'right' to my eyes. I prefer linear editing, smooth editing is boring as well :3
The video HAS to have an atmosphere, then it all depends and how well it's handled. I don't see many videos like that on youtube, it's mostly Akross editors that do that well and maybe that's why I love akross vids so much :3

Lastly, it has to give me some feels :3 (Piano music with random quotes about love and loss, girls crying, and people's hands trying to reach one another doesn't impress me at all.)

Not gonna lie. I also came across this thought once. But then I realized that it is not that we're kissing arse just because its a pro editor. Its the fact that this person is really good at what he does. Therefore creating good pieces everytime. Of course a good editor can also mess up at times and the video won't be as appreciated. Take Kesidiii and Fedebankai for example. 2 good editors and I used to be quite the big fan. Until their works stopped being as creative and lovely. Or more like stopped improving and reached a plateau

I need sync and smoothness in the amv-no choppy stuff,appropriate transitions.The thing that wins me over ultimately is thought out scene placement,that's why my favourite type of amvs is story crossovers but it doesnt have to be necessarily this kind of amv.

Retarded toaster news to you,an amv can have sync and surprise you at the same time and it will be better than an amv without sync,however you can argue what sync is exactly.
