Is it always needed? Should our goal be to be creative or make something that is enjoyable?

Depends on what keeps you entertained, there are people that get bored extremely easily with their hobbies. Such people need to be creative or else they will die from boredom after trying everything they can come up with. At least editing is -most of the time- creative, so we keep our "wannabe-artist/swagger" batteries fueled :D
