Pan/Crop or Maintain Aspect Ratio Empty
PostSubject: Pan/Crop or Maintain Aspect Ratio   Pan/Crop or Maintain Aspect Ratio Icon_minitimeFri May 11, 2012 5:00 pm

When I download old episodes of bleach and onepiece etc. They are smaller in size ( have the thick black lines either side )

Whats best to do? Pan/Crop or Stretch it and Untick Maintain Aspect ratio
I'm assuming Pan/Crop but I haven't tried it yet so I'm not 100% it will work as well as what I'm thinking.

I upscale to 720p then crop to remove the subs.
If you directly pan/crop you lose 30% of your image and it's as you have zoomed so you lose more quality.
But I think everyone else does pan/crop..

what do you mean by you upscale to 720p?
and when you convert from mkv 2 mp4 won't that remove the subs? or are onepiece episodes coded differently so GUI doesn't pic them up?

The old eps don't exist in .mkv
They exist in avi or mp4 and the subs are hardened.

If you want to do this, there's an even easier way to accomplish it , if you care to know.
Just press pan/crop and then choose Widescreen 16:9
Pan/Crop or Maintain Aspect Ratio Scaled.php?server=204&filename=12011868

that's not very good unless there are subs in the clip and you would 've zoom it anyway. But if you don't why would you zoom it and make the quality look bad??Cause most of the episodes that are not fullscreen are episodes that were broadcasted years ago and the quality is already bad....

Oldest eps have subs hardened but yeah if a scene doesn't have subs I'd go with nikos's solution.

disable resample is very usefull for masking, so that it won't glitch.Dunno about full screen...

omg i gave up on masking long ago because of this! everytime it would glitch after a few frames and i would lose my mind and throw my latop away then calm down and decide not to do a mask in my edit :affraid:

well before i learned about disable resample, i used to edit in double frames and render in half so that i won't have glitches, that way i don't miss any frame....But disable resample is better....
