| This idea is not new, but it is only recently that I started giving it some attention. Thing is I cannot really edit without putting my headphones on and listening to the track in a "loud" manner so I can notice the tiniest of beats. However, loud music through headphones does affect your hearing on the long term, and by affect I mean more like damage, with worst case scenario being developing "Tinnitus" which is constant whistling sound you hear that doesn't really have a source if you know what I mean. Anyway what are your thoughts on this? Is it possible to edit the same way without setting my music on max or even a relatively loud volume? | |

| I think that editing or not, most of us have the headphones volume maxed - so if you are gonna kill your ears you might as well make something instead of having them killed by random Russians in cs go. Jokes aside, it's common to get temporary "whistling" after hours of loud music, i get that after parties as much as i get it after a very loud ENP vc or an editing session (yea that happened... never...). Tho I have read that permanent damage that loud music from various sources causes is visible only after 10-20-30 years, because it develops slowly. And that it lowers your hearing ability, similar to one after the war. Or that is just what they tell us so we don't turn up the volume, I kinda believe it and I kinda don't. | |

| Well I edit with headphones on too, but dunno, I never get it, I am used to listening to loud music, so I don't have a prob. with that. Tho I think that it's pretty hard to catch the beats with any sound interfeering with the song(no-headphones). Edit with headphones, but do it right. :D :D :D Kirei-senpai advices, trust me and you'll be silver in 1 week. | |

| I use headphones on pc only for vc, but when I am away from home I use them and with really loud music, indeed. I never really noticed that whistling sound, so I never thought about it... I think editing without headphones is okay, since I never did it other way lol | |

| Get good sound cancelling headphones...They isolate you from your surroundings and you can set the volume much lower than with normal ones. I only had this problem with my old in-ear headphones that needed to be almost full power to understand the song. | |

| This propably has to do more with PC usage in general rather than editing, but sometimes, when I spent like an entire day using the PC, when I go to sleep and I stop thinking about stuff, so let's say when I am close to falling asleep, if I focus my senses on the void for too long (it's like I try to listen to the emptiness of the night), I feel a screeching noise somewhere between my ears and my brain, I am not even sure if it is hearing impairment, super chibi kawaii desu moe mode headache or whatever... So:
TL;DR: you will get cancer if you use the pc a lot anyway, so you might as well do what you want while at it. | |
