I'm here by sticking to my guns that editing is a form of art. and when at a certain point of editing, I feel as though people can't judge how well something is. you can say how much you enjoyed it yes but lately I've been looking around and people give critique BASED on the edits pros do. and I'm not a big fan of this clean cut add a mask in now n then style that everyone thinks is the best just because soul team & stk etc all edit this way.
just came here to say I get a bit pissed with all this edit like these or else your bad. baka is a good example of some1 whos stuck to what he likes and has got far with it, no fanboying well known editors and copying them to get recognition.
as for me, I'm lazy and do other things over editing lately. haven't got a style I edit w.e comes to my fingers at the time ;)
peace.

well no one is really forcing anybody to follow that clean style. i'm asked to criticize so I do it. + Criticism shouldn't be applied on the style. I know what you're referring to tho. there is this new form of trolls being created. they think they're so pro just because they edit clean, and dislike everything that has Fx. totally ignoring the fact that editing with Fx (correctly) is much harder than clean

baka sure is unique in his own way, never caring about what others do but the fact that he is famous now is NOT because he got far by his skills.. (i'm not saying that he doesn't deserve to be like that, on the contrary, his skills are amazing and i love every video he makes) but what i want to point out is that he became "famous" because he was sticking to those "big" editors, fanboying them in order to get more subs. and i'm sure he is willing to do a lot more things to get those "wanted" subs...
That's what it seemed to me 1 year ago.
About judging, i think people can judge how good something was executed either by their own taste or by having experienced (watched in our case) the same thing done by somebody other.
I.E. https://youtu.be/igQfnM_dERY / https://youtu.be/9tueg9Ex6z8?t=1m19s
You'd say stavros copied maik (even though he couldn't remember where he saw something like that, i witnessed it while we were talking on skype xD). Based on maik's video you could judge that "effect", couldn't you?
But if you haven't seen maik's video (or anyone other's who has done something like that) but you can imagine it in a different way, which to you it seems a lot better, you can also judge it.
In the last case, it is where constructive criticism shows up! You criticize it based on your own opinions and suggest ways of better executing :)
I don't know if it's only me or there are others thinking the same way, it's not about ST/SNK/STK using it but that "clean cut/mask" (although i rarely use masks) editing seems the best because it's flowing smoothly. (and to me, a smooth video is something that i like)
In conclusion, there's no creativity in YouTube anymore (about "editing" and not in all videos) thus there's no original things to criticize based on your own way of thinking, people use the same patterns over and over again and the judged decide which one they like the most and judge the "effect" according to that.

waiting for nikos150 rage posts xD

I agree and disagree with all the above.
Sure there is this cast of people who want to edit this "clean editing" as you call it and just mimick stuff from prozZz but on the other hand i think clean editing is something that's misunderstood,Baka for me,is clean editing.Using all the required things to be smooth like cool smooth camera movement and nice color adjusts following the music with multiple channels of clean editing that all together comes like a more complicated thing. It's clean editing. What isn't clean editing is a put a scene and then another scene above it in a screen/overlay setting and everything goes all over the place. That's not clean editing and if you want to be like that go ahead. There are somethings which you can't do,it's like baking a sour cake,it is just failure. It can only be successful under certain circumstances.
On the other hand,Pam-chan originality exists. There are always these people who find new ways of transition that will blow your mind and that you haven't seen before.
Gab-chan...eh you know what a troll is,don't you?

i got to say i laughed really hard with pampouks spoiler
okay , about the example of baka, for me baka had really good skills since he started editting and sticking to big editors (like pampouks said) or making a new video every 3-4 days made him so famous.Later he saw that he was wrong in the ways he was approaching things and he changed. Now i can see in his videos that he is always trying to do something new and he is always trying to differ and just this for me is respectable.
Now about clean editting. It depends how you use it, it's like what peter said "What isn't clean editing is a put a scene and then another scene above it in a screen/overlay setting and everything goes all over the place. That's not clean editing and if you want to be like that go ahead." but for me what luciole does is clean editting and he is always trying to make really nice transitions that impress me a lot some times and his way of editting is not really my taste or my style but he really knows how to take a clean clip and make it flow and follow the song.
and lastly, what do you mean by saying "people give critics based on what pros do" ?? Who do you consider, or who do people consider as pro??The answer is obvious and that's why i hate this editting community...

Org is the land of critique. I don't think such a suggestion would the wisest thing to have on this particular topic Lol

I didnt read any of the posts other than the first one but I really don't gert why you have to complicate things like that. Just edit your videos and upload them because you enjoy doing it.

Weren't you be just an asshole if you go in the .org and only post your vids and expect feedback without being active on other threads whatsoever? The "being active on other threads" part includes a lot of reading from people who know their stuff but they don't know how to post.

Its like being in a forum Peter...Nothing more nothing less. You just participate in something you are interested if else you just post your vids, wait for feedback, give feedback and stuff

Nikos I consider pro's as people who enter contests such as JPN expo/Akross and averagely come with a respectable placement.
